Mapping NYC Subway System – Rockaway Peninsula NYC Subway Stations with No Accessibility

The mapping of the New York City Subway system continues. Here are the panoramic views of the 10 subway stations/stops/entrances on the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens New York, where there are only TWO (2) accessible stations. That means that since the Rockaway Peninsula is a Level 1 evacuation zone, every must evacuate in the event of a major storm. If someone lives alone, has no family, friends or caregivers, they may be stranded in a life threatening situation. This scenario is obscene and the MTA can do better. Here then are the panoramic views with each station labelled via Google Maps.

The Panoramic Views above are of the Mott Ave – Far Rockaway station which is accessible and is the last stop on the A train.

Here are Panoramic Views of the Beach 25 Street – Wavecrest Station. Please note: This station is NOT accessible.

The Panoramic views above are of the Beach 36 St – Edgemere Station. This station is NOT accessible.

Here are panoramic views of the Beach 44 St Station Frank Avenue. This station is NOT accessible.

Here are Panoramic Views of the Beach 60 St Station – Straiton Avenue. This station is NOT accessible.

Here are Panoramic Views of the Beach 67 St Station – Arverne By The Sea. This station is NOT accessible.

Here are Panoramic Views of the Beach 90 Street/Holland station. This station is NOT accessible.

Here is the Beach 98 Street – Playland station. This station is NOT accessible.

Here is the Beach 105 Street – Seaside station. This station is NOT accessible.

Here is the Rockaway Park Station – Beach 116 Street station. This station is NOT accessible. There you have the most comprehensive mapping of the Rockaway Peninsula subway stations and entrances. I did not do panoramic views of the platforms since that is useless and the Google Maps views shows that pointer at ground level, so it distorts that information. I dont look at this as work but more like a cardio workout on an early Saturday morning in the spring in New York City. It was fun, the scenery is gorgeous and of course I took pictures and panoramic views of Rockaway Beach, Fort Tilden and Jacob Riis Gate National Park with the horses and all. Stay very tuned for our next series of meetups in the NYC area with a NYC transit accessiblity awareness and correction theme.

LocalGuide NYC Subway Google Maps Editing Meetup

On April 1, 2017, I had the very good fortune to meet up with a team of New York City Angels.  We all are Google Localguides and some of us are even Google Trust Photographers.  I too am a localguide and trusted photographer, so this venture is important to me. Previously, through the good folks at Google NYC, I set up a Google Meetup to convene to map New York City subway locations, entrances/stations.  Another important initiative, was to bring awareness of those locations, entrances and stations, which are not accessible to our New York City neighbors who are physically challenged.

We did this by taking regular photos with our smartphones and our digital cameras, both of which are GPS enabled, that is, which report the longitude and latitude of the particular location.  Now that the NYC transit system is fully WIFI enabled, photos including panoramic views and videos, report the GPS location once they are added to Google Maps and Google Street view.

The image below is of one of the entrances of the 14th Street Union Square station.  Note that this entrance is not accessible to our physically challenged neighbors, although there is braille directions on one of the support beams of the entrance.  Across the park near Broadway is the accessible entrance.

Here are some other photos, most of which are panoramic views which I shot using the RICOH Theta S on a Google Inc provided selfie stick.

This is the 14th Street and 8th Avenue Station which has an operating elevator and is therefore accessible.

Here is one of the many entrances at 14th Street and 6th Avenue. There is the L, F, M, passageway to the 1, 2, 3 and PATH and of course, no accessibility.

Here is the hub for the 1, 2, 3 and an underground passageway to the L, F, M, PATH trains but alas, no accessibility. We shall call this the superhero stop since superheros scale buildings in single bounds but we humans use mobile chairs, walkers, etc.

Here is our final pep talk before we go forth and Map.  (Photo courtesy of LocalGuide and Googler Corrie Davidson)

On our way to our next station location, localguide and Googler Sasha Blair-Goldensohn took this photo at ground level to show the accessibility challenges above ground while simply trying to negotiate a street crosswalk.

EMI Filter and Electronic Components

What is an EMI Filter?

An EMI filter, or electromagnetic interference filter, is an electronic passive device which is used in order to suppress conducted interference that is present on a signal or power line. EMI filter uses:

  • Suppress interference that is generated by the device or by other equipment in order make a device more immune to EMI signals present in the environment.
  • Suppress differential and common mode interference.

line filter or EMI filter, is the kind of electronic filter that is placed between an electronic equipment and a line external to it, to attenuate conducted radio frequencies — RFI, also known as electromagnetic interference (EMI) — between the line and the equipment.

Types of EMI Filters

There are different types of EMI filters such as RFI EMI filter, DC EMI filter, AC EMI filter, 3 phase EMI filter, Ethernet EMI filter, EMI air filter, EMI line filter, EMI suppression filter, EMI power filter or EMI noise filters.

Choosing the Right EMI Filter:

When you are looking for the right EMI filters, contact the The All Power Source company.  You will be able to find any EMI filter at this company.

Here is a simple video of EMI filters, as made by the AllPower Source Company, (which I am affiliated with).  These show EMC/EMI filters, RFI  or line filters as manufactured by the AllPower Company.

Electromagnetic interference (EMI), also called radio-frequency interference (RFI) when in the radio frequency spectrum, is a disturbance generated by an external source that affects an electrical circuit by electromagnetic induction, electrostatic coupling, or conduction.[1] The disturbance may degrade the performance of the circuit or even stop it from functioning. In the case of a data path, these effects can range from an increase in error rate to a total loss of the data.[2] Both man-made and natural sources generate changing electrical currents and voltages that can cause EMI: automobile ignition systems, cell phones, thunder storms, the Sun, and the Northern Lights. EMI frequently affects AM radios. It can also affect cell phones, FM radios, and televisions.  (Source: Wikipedia)
